First published in 1989, Years Like Brief Days, written by Costa Rican novelist Fabián Dobles, recounts an elderly man’s nostalgic journey back to the village where he grew up. Vivid memories of the people and places from his childhood come flowing back with such intensity it is as if they are part of the present. Dobles skilfully deals with the changing relationships of an ageing individual towards family and society as a whole. Also available in the UNESCO Collection of Representative Works
