This series was set up by the Expert-Center for Taxonomic Identification (ETI) of the University of Amsterdam on an initiative of UNESCO. Its aim is to provide scientists, students, and other interested parties with easily accessible, high-quality taxonomic and ecological information on the world’s biological diversity.

Etymological Dictionary of Grasses
Eight years of research were required to compile this elaborate interactive glossary of more than 13,000 terms. A multimedia introductory section explains the general rules of taxonomy and the naming of these organisms that are of key importance to agriculture.
