Education for All Global Monitoring Report - 2009
‘(…) The report would be of immense use to many. It not only mirrors the educational accomplishments and shortcomings but does so in relation to many countries. This could motivate countries lagging behind to closely monitor their own situation, and adopt counteractive and calibrated measures for addressing the inadequacies. While revealing the progress made towards EFA, the inequities persisting in a country or region get exposed. Hence, it can also serve as a point of reference for holding governments accountable for the lapses by their citizens. The report is important because of the guidance it provides for assessing the situation and conceptualising objectives and strategies for accelerating progress towards the educational goals. It is, thus, an important document for those engaged in national and international planning, policy formulation and implementation, funding and monitoring activities pertaining to social development as well as for anyone believing in education as a human right.’
